Who Wants Health Care Reform Now?
The poll of 1,000 Americans and industry leaders done by the National Association of Children’s Hospitals and Related Institutions (NACHRI) and PricewaterhouseCoopers found that:
- 75 percent want health reform accomplished during president-elect Obama’s first term; and
- 67 percent want federal health insurance programs expanded to cover all uninsured children.
The survey also questioned 843 health industry leaders on their opinions of a possible overhaul and found that:
- 74 percent support a mandate for all employers to offer or contribute to employee health insurance;
- 98 percent thought that the health care system should invest in prevention programs for chronic illness; and
- 87 percent believe that the federal government should help fund the adoption of health information technology.
