Family Premiums for Employer-Sponsored Coverage Rose About 5%

According to the Kaiser Family Foundation's 2009 Employer Health Benefits Survey:


  • Since a decade ago, premiums have risen 131%.
  • Worker wages rose 38% and inflation is up 28% since 1999.
  • 60% of firms surveyed offered health coverage to workers.
  • 21% of firms surveyed said they reduced the scope of benefits during the recession.
  • 15% of firms surveyed expanded health benefits to workers.
